Like many lifelong gamers of a certain age (that is to say, old folks), Steve Danuser's passion was sparked by the arrival of the venerable Atari 2600. It was the Ultima series of RPGs that opened his eyes to the potential of using video games to tell epic stories. With the launch of the original EverQuest, Steve became enthralled by online gaming and has never looked back. Known in the online world as Moorgard, Danuser and friends founded the Mobhunter opinion site to analyze and discuss massively multiplayer games. He focused his knack for informative and entertaining discourse into the job of Community Manager for EverQuest II at Sony Online Entertainment, founding one of the strongest and most vibrant communities in the MMOG space. He became a designer on EverQuest II and contributed to the title's ongoing live updates, adventure packs, and expansions, including the popular Echoes of Faydwer. As Creative Director at 38 Studios, Steve is putting his talents for IP development, storytelling, game design, and community interaction to use on the company's upcoming MMOG. Born in Minnesota, he earned a degree in English from Winona State University. In 2009 he co-authored a chapter on writing for massively multiplayer online games in the book Writing for Video Game Genres, produced in association with the IGDA's Writers SIG. Danuser continues to discuss game design on his web site, Mobhunter.com.
