The Unearthly Challenge environmental art competition has come to a close, and congratulations go out to all of the talented artists who entered this first-of-its-kind event. We especially congratulate Bram Eulaers, winner of the 38 Studios Honorary Award for his entry “Abandoned Colony.”
Here's what 38's judges had to say about Bram's work:
"Bram's 'Abandoned Colony' is, in a word, sophisticated. He's pushed game art to a level that really bridges the gap between concept illustration and finished 3d. It's evocative, harmonious, and shows a great sense of spatial composition, even from multiple angles. You get a real sense that you could explore this environment fully, going up and down the streets, into the canals, and into each building. Everything works together nicely - the overall shapes, the fine details, the bright lights and darks -- and the vegetation works perfectly as a common thread to tie together everything. Fantastic work, Bram! 38 Studios is pleased to name you the recipient of the 38 Studios Honorary Award!"
Nice work, Bram! To see all of the entries, as well as the final results, head on over to UnearthlyChallenge.com!
