38 Studios' CEO and President Brett Close is well traveled, but he stayed close to home in May to attend the IGC East (Independent Game Conference) at Northeastern University in Boston, and the Nantucket Conference on Nantucket Island. At IGC, Close led a discussion entitled, “Synopsis for Quality of Life — How to Build Games, Make Your Company Successful And Still Have a Life.” And that just about summed it up. Close gave tips on how to get things done efficiently without losing the important work/life balance. At the Nantucket Conference, Close was part of a panel that discussed the growth and increasing potential of the game industry in Massachusetts. He was joined by Jeffrey Anderson, CEO of Quick Hit, and Ian Lane Davis, President of Rockstar Games New England. Curt Schilling, Founder and Chairman of 38 Studios, also had some things to say at MIT's first Business in Gaming conference, hosted by the Sloan School of Business. As part of a panel that included Craig Alexander, Vice President at Turbine; Robert Ferrari, Vice President at Sanrio Digital; and Eugene Evans, Senior Director at Mythic Entertainment, Schilling discussed different MMOG business models and how the models may change in the future.
