HOW COOL WOULD IT BE IF...?

Pax09: Jamie Gotch Panel

UPDATED [9/15/09]: The crew from PAX has returned full of smiles and stories. The team enjoyed checking out the booths on the show floor, and there were great turnouts at all panels. Lindsey's favorite part of her panel was hanging around afterwards to answer more questions from her panel go-ers and offer individualized advice. Rich noted that everyone in attendance at his panel was fun, rowdy, and laughed at all of his jokes — what more could he want? Jen and Jason's panel, entitled, "Game Developer Parents: Raising our Kids on Games Redux," also ran smoothly. For Jason, one of the most interesting things to hear about was the degree to which World of Warcraft is an area of common ground between parents and kids. The family that raids together stays together...? We'll leave you now with these photos and video links highlighting the fun had by all. Thanks to all who came out to see us in Seattle! Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) is being held in Seattle from September 4-6, 2009. Always an exciting event, this year PAX promises to be even more enthralling, as 38 Studios' Jen MacLean, Rich Gallup, and Jamie Gotch, and BHG's Jason Coleman, Lindsey McQueeney, and Chris Nemcosky take a trip across the country to participate in a variety of PAX panels. On Friday, September 4th, join Jen and Jason at the Wolfman Theatre from 10:30am-11:30am in a discussion about how to integrate games into children's lives. If that's a bit too early in the day for you, catch Chris from 6-7pm as he adds his thoughts about why table-top gaming continues to be popular to a discussion entitled, "Original Gangstas: Why Table-Top Gaming Still Packs Heat." On Saturday, Lindsey will be at the Raven Theatre from 1-2pm giving advice on what recruiters and hiring managers look for when searching for the next great employee. If you're looking to break into the game development industry, you won't want to miss this panel. And don't forget to stop by the Serpent Theatre on Saturday from 7-8pm to see Rich in action, reunited with the Giant Bomb crew. We hear there may be free t-shirts, so check it out. If your interest doesn't lie in attending panels, make sure to visit the PAX 10 Booth, a collection of the ten best independent games selected by a panel of game industry experts out of 150 submissions. 38's own Jamie Gotch will be showcasing Fieldrunners, the runaway iPhone hit developed by Jamie and others at Subatomic Studios in their spare time. PAX 10 developers will take part in a Q&A session on Saturday from 7:30-8:30pm, so if you have anything you want to ask, be there! We look forward to seeing you all in Seattle!
