UPDATED 8/31/2009: The 38 crew is back to the grindstone after a fun, successful weekend of panels at Game UniCon. Both teams enjoyed solid turnouts; Paul Mock's group gave great advice to those interested in pursuing a career in game development, while Steve Danuser's panel engaged the audience in a discussion ranging across multiple topics, from MMOG business models to breaking into the video game industry. Thanks to all who stopped by!
This year, 38 Studios team members are planning to be on hand to take part in some of the UniCon forums. Paul Mock expects to lead a presentation and Q&A session entitled, "Patterns for Success: Stories of Getting into Game Development." He'll be joined by teammates Joe Mirabello, Eric Orr, Michael Schoonmaker, and Travis Doggett so attendees will get a big-picture look at both the art and engineering sides of game development.
Steve Danuser is planning to partner with Ryan Shwayder, also from 38, and Justin Webb, from Tencent Boston, to discuss the past and future of online play. They'll provide the view from industry veterans and are looking forward to Q&A from the audience to further drive the discussion.
Game UniCon is shaping up to be quite the event, so go check it out!
