Steve Danuser, Creative Director at 38 Studios, recently took a break from his storytelling and IP efforts to participate on a panel at the IEEE Virtual Reality 2010 conference. The panel, titled Design for Experience?!, included a diverse set of luminaries from the research, theme park, and game development fields. "I'm used to attending game-centric conferences," Danuser said, "and at first I wasn't sure how I would fit in with a more academic and research-focused crowd. But as we interacted with the audience, I began to see that game development and virtual reality research share an immense amount of common ground. Everyone on the panel designs for specific types of user experiences, and we all face similar challenges. Many ideas were exchanged, and being on the panel helped me see my own work from a new perspective." As Creative Director, Danuser leads the team overseeing the immense world that serves as the backdrop for the Project Copernicus MMO, as well as the recently announced Project Mercury RPG being developed at 38 Studios' Baltimore studio.
