Summary

As a Senior Client Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, debugging and optimizing code for numerous systems and tools in the client technologies of our MMO. These systems include graphics, animation, gameplay, UI, audio, and general game engine architecture. We'll ask you to work closely with other engineers, artists, and designers to make our games great, be awesome and be fun.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with team leads, artists and designers to define client performance requirements for the MMO, tools, and asset pipelines.
  • Implement, maintain, optimize and debug code for different systems on the MMO client.
  • Help define minimum spec requirements and balance against capabilities of current systems.
  • Improve software pipelines and processes to increase overall team productivity.
  • Work closely with graphics, audio, UI and lead client engineers to define best practices, improve coordination and generally facilitate productivity.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, art, design, and other departments.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements

Knowledge

  • Very Strong knowledge of C++ is required.
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills and are required.
  • An understanding of most game engine disciplines (e.g. animation, audio, graphics, gameplay, etc) with extensive experience in at least one discipline.
  • A deep knowledge of client systems, performance trade-offs, and best-practices.
  • Familiarity with SpeedTree, Morpheme, Umbra, Scaleform, Wwise is helpful.
  • Familiarity with SCRUM development process is helpful.

Competencies

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work closely with other senior engineers and to mentor more junior engineers.
  • Understanding of how to work on large teams in a deadline-driven environment.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years game industry experience is required, with at least two shipped titles.
  • Experience with UnrealEngine3 is a big plus.
  • Experience with open world or MMO games is a plus.
  • Experience with the Python programming language is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
