Summary
As an Operations System Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of Operations servers and applications.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted parties.
• Setup, maintain and administer multiple systems within Production and Test environments.
• Troubleshoot system and application issues.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Interface with QA and Development departments.
• Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.

 
Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements

Knowledge

• Systems, Build and Configuration experience (Kickstart, Puppet).
• Linux systems support and administration (Ubuntu preferred).
• Network TCP/IP / LAN / WAN troubleshooting skills.
• Systems monitoring and alerting (Nagios or similar product).
• Web Systems / LAMP skills, including automated deployment experience.
• General scripting skills and knowledge (Ruby or Perl preferred).

Competencies

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent organization and efficient time management skills are required.
• Understanding of how to work on large teams in a deadline-driven environment.

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree level education (or current pursuit of) or comparable experience and training.
• 4+ years experience in a Systems Administrator capacity.
• Experience with on-call rotation.
• Experience in a customer-facing support role.
