Summary

As an Interactive Designer, you will be part of a team responsible for designing and implementing best-in-class websites and social applications for 38 Studios’ fantasy-based IP products. This will be a diverse and demanding role. A successful candidate will have a solid background in interactive design, an understanding of core design philosophy, theory and practices, and knowledge of MMOs and the online websites and applications that support them.

Position Responsibilities

• Create powerful visual solutions and produce final assets (including UI, templates, animation and marketing art).
• Work with the producer and creative leads to define the aesthetic vision for all interactive properties.
• Turn concepts, wireframes and technical documents into visually compelling and meaningful designs.
• Contribute to visual mockups, prototypes, design documentation and style guides.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements

Knowledge

• An excellent eye for design, ability to recognize good web UI and the ability to verbalize what makes it good.
• Top-notch design skills (layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory, patterns).
• Solid understanding of web technologies and cross-browser development best practices.
• Ability to create UI and designs that are conformant to user-experience standards on platforms that include Windows, iOS and Android.
• Familiarity with designing for scalability, accessibility, and localization/internationalization preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop CS4/CS5 with an emphasis on layout design and graphic creation; InDesign and Illustrator a plus.
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Flash.
• Illustration, animation, 3D and gaming experience a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of MMO game sites, digital storefronts, and account management and billing system features a plus.
• Knowledge of social networking tools and sites required.
• Experience with the scrum development process desirable.
• Knowledge of source control software such as Perforce or SVN.

Experience

• 2-4+ years of UI and design experience in web or interactive media production (not print), ideally in the consumer entertainment sector.
• Experience launching large-scale websites.
• Must possess a solid portfolio of web design.
