Would you like to become part of the team that includes the creative visionaries behind Oblivion and Rise of Nations, as well as Drizzt Do’Urden and Spawn? 38 Studios, LLC is currently seeking an Environment Artist to join the team at the Big Huge Games studio in Timonium, Maryland. Summary

As an Environment Artist, you will be responsible for producing artwork that adheres to the unified studio art vision while collaborating closely with other departments.

Position Responsibilities

  • Create artwork to the highest quality standards for world building from modeling, to texture painting, lighting, and atmospherics.
  • Produce art that adheres to a unified studio art vision.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Department to achieve the best possible fusion of game play and aesthetics.
  • Meet project deadlines / milestones as set by studio production management.
  • Work within established pipelines and procedures for game art production.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of 2D and 3D software packages, including expert knowledge of Photoshop and 3DStudio Max, and bonus points for experience with Zbrush.
  • Skill in Maya will be considered, but artists will be required to use 3DStudio Max in our productions.
  • Organic modeling skills are highly desirable.
  • Must be able to demonstrate production experience and strong, hands-on knowledge of art creation tools.

Competencies

  • Exceptional artistic abilities ideally across a variety of media, both traditional and electronic.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with solid organization and efficient time management abilities.
  • Effective self-tasking.
  • Firm understanding of art production pipelines, ideally within a game development environment.

Experience:

  • Expected minimum 2 to 4 years of applicable industry experience with at least one completed product as an Artist.
